Coinbase Launches Prediction Market for Nongshim RedForce vs Team Vitality
Coinbase has launched a new prediction market allowing users to bet on the outcome of the Nongshim RedForce vs. Team Vitality match, specifically focusing on Map 2. The market is set to expire on October 10, 2026, or when the event concludes, whichever comes first. Traders can buy contracts predicting whether Nongshim RedForce or Team Vitality will win the map, with payouts based on the accuracy of their predictions.
The prediction market operates similarly to other betting platforms, where contracts are priced based on the perceived likelihood of an event occurring. For example, a contract priced at $0.65 suggests a 65% chance of the predicted outcome. Users can buy "Yes" contracts if they believe the event will happen or "No" contracts if they think it will not. Payouts are made if the event aligns with the user's prediction, minus the initial cost of the contract and any applicable fees.
To participate, users need a Coinbase account and must complete onboarding with Coinbase Financial Markets (CFM), which includes identity verification and basic financial details. Funds can be transferred from the main Coinbase account to the derivatives account for trading purposes. The platform also outlines trading prohibitions to ensure fairness, such as restricting trades from current players, coaches, and staff involved in the event.
Coinbase emphasizes that prediction markets involve substantial risk and are not a recommendation to invest. The platform is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and operates under clear rules and settlement policies. Users are advised to understand the product and assess its appropriateness for their financial situation before trading.
