Coinbase Launches Solana Prediction Market with 2026 Price Target
Coinbase has launched a prediction market for the price of Solana (SOL), with a target of $120.7012 set for a contract expiring on October 5, 2026. The market, which has attracted $63,000 in interest, allows traders to bet on whether SOL will reach this price by the expiry date. The contract pays out $1 if the target is hit and $0 if it is not, with the current price reflecting the market’s odds of the event occurring.
Traders can participate by buying "Yes" contracts if they believe SOL will hit the target or "No" contracts if they think it will not. Payouts are based on the outcome, with profits calculated by subtracting the purchase price from the payout amount, minus any fees. The market operates 24/7, except during weekly maintenance windows from Thursday 3:00-5:00 am ET.
Coinbase Financial Markets, the regulated derivatives entity behind the prediction market, emphasizes that trading involves substantial risk and may result in the loss of the entire investment. Participants must complete onboarding, including identity verification and basic financial details, before trading. The platform also prohibits trading by individuals with material, non-public information or those employed by source agencies related to the contract.
Settlement of contracts is determined by an independent, regulated exchange using a stated "source of truth," such as official data or market prices. Payouts occur after settlement, though delays may happen on weekends, holidays, or during third-party result confirmation. Fees vary by market and are displayed in the trade preview before placing an order.
