Coinbase Launches Tokenization Hub in Abu Dhabi

Share

Coinbase has established its international tokenization hub in Abu Dhabi's ADGM (Abu Dhabi Global Market), a major financial center in the UAE. The move is part of Coinbase's broader commitment to building global infrastructure for a more open and accessible financial system.

The company received a Financial Services Permission (FSP) from the FSRA (Financial Services Regulatory Authority), which will enable it to arrange deals in investments, provide custody, and facilitate the launch of tokenized securities. This license is seen as a major step towards changing the way people access capital markets, with an estimated 4 billion individuals worldwide unable to participate due to high costs or lack of access.

The tokenized securities registered and issued in ADGM will be fully backed by underlying shares under the supervision of the FSRA. Investors will have full shareholder rights, including dividends and voting, without needing a brokerage account or correspondent banking relationship.
