Coinbase Launches Tokenization Hub in Abu Dhabi with Regulated Securities

Share

Coinbase has set up its international tokenization hub in Abu Dhabi after securing a license from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of the Abu Dhabi Global Market.

The exchange will now be able to provide custody for tokenized securities, and plans to offer digital securities registered and issued within ADGM. This move is part of Coinbase's broader efforts to expand its presence in the UAE and bring traditional securities onto blockchain outside of the US.

The company has established Abu Dhabi as its international tokenization hub and will use this license to arrange investment deals and provide custody for tokenized securities. According to Brett Tejpaul, co-CEO of Coinbase Institutional, no financial center has a system that sees tokenized equities as securities, blockchain-native tokens, and DeFi-composable assets simultaneously.
