Coinbase Offers Retail Investors IPO Access with Oura's Health Tech Debut
Coinbase has expanded its services to include IPO access for US retail investors, marking another step towards becoming a full-spectrum financial platform. The company announced on September 21 that eligible users can request allocations in upcoming initial public offerings through its Coinbase Capital Markets platform. The inaugural offering is the Oura IPO, which aims to raise up to $2.2 billion at a price range of $40 to $44 per share.
Oura, a Finnish health tech company known for its smart rings, filed its S-1 registration statement with the SEC on September 3. The company's revenue for the nine months ending June 30, 2026, reached $1.21 billion, representing 74% year-over-year growth. Oura has approximately 5 million paid members with high retention rates.
The IPO will list shares under the ticker OURA on the Nasdaq, led by Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as underwriters. Robinhood Securities is participating in the underwriting syndicate for the first time. This marks a significant step up from Oura's last private valuation of around $11 billion, with the IPO pricing valuing the company at approximately $14 billion.
Coinbase's move into traditional finance is a clear signal that it views itself as more than just a cryptocurrency exchange. The platform already offers derivatives, staking, and institutional custody services, making it a strong competitor in the retail investing space.
