Coinbase Opens IPO Allocations to US Retail Traders Through App
Coinbase has expanded its services beyond spot crypto trading by offering US retail customers access to initial public offerings (IPOs) through its app.
The first IPO available on the platform is Oura, with eligible users able to submit a Conditional Offer to Buy at the IPO offer price before public trading starts.
The allocation process is handled by Coinbase Capital Markets, a FINRA-registered broker-dealer, and is subject to availability, eligibility checks, and the platform's allocation rules.
Coinbase aims to favor longer-term participation through its system, including a 30-day holding incentive: users who sell allocated IPO shares within 30 days risk being locked out of IPO participation for 60 days.
