Coinbase Opens Up IPO Access to Retail Traders

Coinbase is expanding access to primary financial markets by allowing U.S. retail traders to request IPO allocations directly in their app.

The new feature, called Coinbase Capital Markets (CCM), offers eligible customers early exposure to high-interest companies before they hit public exchanges.

To participate, users can navigate to the IPOs page inside the Coinbase app and select an active deal. They will need to fund their account to cover the cost of the requested shares before submitting a 'Conditional Offer to Buy' once the expected price range becomes public.

The allocation algorithm prioritizes investors who believe in what they're purchasing for the long haul, with those holding IPO shares for longer durations receiving larger and more frequent allocations.
