Coinbase Pro Reloaded with Expanded Derivatives and Spot Margin Trading
Coinbase is set to revive its **Coinbase Pro** platform by the end of the year, while expanding its derivatives offerings through a newly integrated global exchange. The company has completed the integration of **Deribit**, creating **Coinbase Global Exchange**, which will serve as a single regulated liquidity pool connecting U.S. and international crypto derivatives markets.
The relaunch of Coinbase Pro will introduce faster order routing, spot margin trading with up to **10x leverage**, and revised fee tiers starting at **$10,000** in trading volume. The platform will also feature expanded advanced trading tools designed for high-volume traders. Additionally, the original Coinbase Pro was discontinued in **2022** after its advanced trading functions were merged into the main Coinbase app.
U.S. institutional clients will soon be able to trade options and perpetual futures via **Coinbase Prime**, with onboarding already live and options trading expected in the coming weeks. The integration of Deribit allows these clients to access derivatives previously available only through offshore entities. Non-U.S. traders are also expected to gain access to options in the near future, while U.S. retail traders will follow later this year.
Coinbase’s new matching engine and shortened onboarding process aim to improve efficiency, while the revised fee structure may broaden access for more active market participants. The company also emphasized that institutional clients will be able to trade spot, futures, perpetuals, and options on the same platform, alongside custody, financing, and staking services.
