Coinbase Pro Returns with Deribit Integration for Global Exchange
Coinbase Pro is making a comeback, but this time as part of a much larger platform. On October 6, 2026, Coinbase announced the revival of its Pro branding under the new Coinbase Global Exchange, following its acquisition of Deribit. The relaunched platform, set to launch by the end of 2026, aims to cater to high-volume traders by offering a consolidated trading experience.
The new Coinbase Pro will integrate spot, futures, perpetuals, options, and equities trading into a single interface. The platform promises faster order routing, a feature critical for traders operating on tight margins. Additionally, margin trading will be introduced soon after the announcement, with up to 10x leverage on major assets and up to 5x on others. Access to the platform will be rolled out in stages, with US institutional clients gaining access first, followed by eligible traders outside the US and eventually US retail users.
The revival of Coinbase Pro is closely tied to the Deribit acquisition, which Coinbase completed in August 2025 for approximately $2.9 billion. The plan involves consolidating derivatives trading on Deribit’s infrastructure and merging liquidity pools for US and international markets. As of October 1, 2026, clients of the Coinbase International Exchange were migrated to Deribit, and the legacy platform was switched to read-only mode. Deribit brings significant scale to the arrangement, holding over $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest and processing more than $1 trillion in trading volume in the year leading up to October 2026.
The integration aims to create the first-ever connection of US and international derivatives markets into a single regulated liquidity pool. For traders, this means the potential to manage spot positions, perpetual swaps, options hedges, and equities exposure from one account. The margin rollout also positions Coinbase more directly against competitors targeting leverage-seeking traders. Key milestones ahead include the spot margin launch, options access for non-US traders, and the arrival of US retail access, with the full Coinbase Pro relaunch slated for the end of 2026.
