Coinbase Pursues Single-Stock Perpetuals in SEC Filings

Share

Coinbase has filed two notice registrations with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in an effort to introduce single-stock perpetuals to its U.S. offerings.

This move would expand Coinbase's equity-derivatives lineup beyond thematic stock indexes, allowing customers to trade individual stocks as opposed to baskets of stocks.

The new product is currently available to eligible customers outside the U.S. and includes assets like Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta, Tesla, SPY, and QQQ exchange-traded funds.

Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad stated that this was only the first step in bringing equity perpetuals onshore, with CFTC product approval being the next necessary step.
