Coinbase Q2 Revenue Plunges 14% Amid Weaker Crypto Trading Activity
Coinbase's Q2 revenue fell 14% year-over-year to $1.22 billion, missing Wall Street estimates of $1.29 billion.
The decline in revenue was largely due to weaker cryptocurrency trading activity, which weighed on the exchange's financial performance despite a record gain in global market share.
Coinbase reported a net loss of $359 million on a GAAP basis, exceeding analysts' anticipated net loss. Transaction revenues fell 21% quarter-over-quarter to $599 million, while subscription and services revenue accounted for 48% of total net revenue.
However, the company's prediction markets business saw significant growth, with revenue more than doubling to over $100 million annualized. This expansion underscores Coinbase's efforts to diversify its revenue streams beyond traditional spot trading.
