Binance's bStocks Surpasses $500M AUM as Gen Z Redefines Global Trading
Binance's bStocks platform has reached a significant milestone, surpassing $500 million in Assets Under Management (AUM) just seven weeks after its launch on June 11. This achievement marks a major shift in global retail investing, as tokenized securities continue to gain popularity.
The platform allows eligible users to trade fractionalized, blockchain-backed representations of conventional stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) around the clock, expanding from five initial tickers to over 46 listings. A staggering 41.5 percent of bStocks users are entering the traditional financial equity markets for the first time via this crypto-native bridge.
Generation Z accounts for 44 percent of all bStocks trading activity, making them the dominant force on the platform. Binance's Head of Exchange and Trading, Shunyet Jan, emphasized that the demand for continuous access is fundamentally altering market behavior. 'Tokenised stocks are opening the door to a new generation of investors,' he stated.
The rise of bStocks has profound implications for investors in emerging markets across Africa, particularly in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa. Tokenized stocks eliminate hurdles such as foreign exchange spreads, complex local brokerage onboarding, and restricted trading hours, allowing users to instantly swap stablecoins for fractional shares of US blue-chip companies at any time of day.
