Coinbase has brought back its Coinbase Wallet name after a one-year experiment to turn it into a social network, Base App. The move marks a return to the platform's trading roots.

Base App was launched in July 2025 by Jesse Pollak, who handed it back to Coinbase in July 2026. During its time as Base App, it featured a feed, messaging, and mini apps, alongside its blockchain network, Base.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong had already called time on creator coins in January 2026, stating 'We messed up, time to turn the page.'

The wallet now routes users to Hyperliquid for perpetual futures and carries prediction markets and tokenized stocks. Traders will notice a new icon and access to leveraged bets.
