Coinbase Reports Third Consecutive Quarterly Loss Amid Ongoing Market Downturn
Coinbase Global, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the US, has reported its third consecutive quarterly loss. The company's second-quarter results show a net loss of approximately $578 billion yen ($4.6 billion USD), with trading revenue decreasing by 22% year-over-year to $5.99 billion.
The decline in trading revenue is attributed to the ongoing market downturn, which has led to a decrease in investor activity. The company's CEO, Brian Armstrong, expressed optimism about the passage of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY law), which aims to provide clarity on regulations for digital assets.
Armstrong stated that the law would be beneficial for Coinbase and would enable the company to focus on growth. However, some analysts have raised concerns about the company's reliance on trading revenue and its ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
