Coinbase Secures Final Regulatory Approval for U.S. Derivatives Business
Coinbase has secured the final regulatory approval needed to operate a fully integrated U.S. derivatives business, after the Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved Coinbase Clearing LLC as a registered derivatives clearing organization.
This move allows Coinbase to combine its existing futures commission merchant and designated contract market with its own clearinghouse, giving the exchange the ability to list, broker, and clear regulated derivatives within the same corporate stack.
Coinbase said this new structure makes it the first U.S. clearinghouse built around USDC-native collateral and 24/7 settlement.
