Coinbase Seeks Approval for Stock-Linked Perpetual Futures
Coinbase has filed a proposal to introduce perpetual futures tied to more than 50 individual stocks, expanding its derivatives business beyond crypto and broad equity indexes.
The contracts could cover major companies such as Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Tesla, and would allow traders to speculate on stock prices without owning the underlying shares.
Coinbase's proposal comes as other platforms, including Crypto.com and Kalshi, explore similar products through different regulatory routes. The exchange faces competition in bringing comparable products into the U.S. under regulatory oversight.
