Coinbase Seeks CFTC Approval for Single-Stock Perpetual Futures
Coinbase has submitted an application to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to offer perpetual futures contracts linked to individual US stocks. The proposal, which includes around 50-60 stocks such as Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, and Nvidia, aims to provide 24/5 access and exposure to these stocks without requiring users to own underlying shares.
The perpetual futures contracts would allow eligible traders to maintain their positions without the hassle of contract rollovers. Coinbase has already rolled out similar products in international markets but is seeking regulatory approval for this new offering in the US.
This move builds on Coinbase's existing US perpetual futures market and aims to combine trading and crypto derivatives with traditional financial assets in regulated US markets. Regulatory approval is required before the launch of these products, which are not yet available for US individuals.
