Coinbase Seeks CFTC Approval for Single-Stock Perpetual Futures
Coinbase has filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to list single-stock perpetual futures in the US market, expanding its existing offerings of derivatives products. This move seeks to bring a widely used product in crypto markets to individual US equities.
The proposed contracts would give US traders 24/5 exposure to individual stocks without owning the underlying shares. Perpetual futures differ from traditional futures contracts as they do not expire.
Coinbase plans to initially offer perpetual futures tied to roughly 50 to 60 stocks, including Apple and Nvidia. The company has already offered similar products to eligible traders outside the US since March.
