Coinbase Seeks CFTC Approval for Single-Stock Perpetual Futures
Coinbase Financial Markets has submitted a filing to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for single-stock perpetual futures. These products, initially covering Apple, Tesla, and Nvidia, will allow leveraged trading without a fixed expiry date.
Perpetual futures are popular in the crypto space, but this model applied to individual stocks enables traders to take leveraged positions without owning the underlying shares. Coinbase's filing aligns with its strategy to build a regulated derivatives infrastructure in the U.S., leveraging its Designated Contract Market status for product approval.
