Coinbase Sees Revenue Decline Amid Rising Prediction Markets
Coinbase's Q2 financial report reveals a challenging quarter for the exchange, with total revenue falling by 14% to $1.22 billion. This decline is largely attributed to a 21% decrease in transaction revenue, which now stands at $599 million.
The company reported a net loss of $359 million for the quarter, raising concerns among investors regarding Coinbase's long-term viability. However, the impressive growth in prediction markets revenue may indicate a shift in trader interests, suggesting that Coinbase could adapt to changing market dynamics.
Coinbase's average USDC held in products reached $20 billion, while subscription and services revenue accounted for 48% of net revenue, down 5%. The company's market share rose to a record 10.3%, despite overall trading volume dropping by 24% to $146.4 billion.
