Coinbase, Stablecore Bring Crypto Services to Thousands of Local Banks
Coinbase and Stablecore have partnered to bring crypto trading, custody, and stablecoin payments to over 3,000 community banks and credit unions. The deal allows customers to buy, sell, hold, stake, and pay with digital assets directly within their bank's existing app.
Stablecore handles the integration work, while Coinbase provides regulated infrastructure underneath. This partnership gives local institutions a direct path to crypto services without replacing their technology.
Alec Lovett, leading Coinbase's infrastructure business, said, 'Community banks and credit unions shouldn't have to choose between staying local and staying current.' He added that the partnership delivers 'cheaper, faster money movement' to those institutions.
The Stablecore deal is part of a broader effort by Coinbase to turn community banks into potential distribution partners. This approach presents itself as infrastructure beneath local institutions rather than a rival pulling customers away.
