Coinbase Stock in Focus as Deribit Secures VARA Licence and Expands Spot Trading

Share

Coinbase stock is in focus after Deribit secured a Broker-Dealer Licence from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), linking its spot trading service to Coinbase Exchange liquidity.

The licence allows Deribit to route spot buy, sell, and trade orders directly to Coinbase Exchange for execution. Previously, Deribit offered spot trading under its VARA Exchange Services licence, which it had held since January 2025.

The new approval changes the scale of that service by bringing Coinbase Exchange liquidity into the platform. Orders sent to Coinbase Exchange will have access to its centralised orderbook, providing deeper liquidity and tighter spreads for Deribit users.
