Coinbase Stock Slumps Amid Crypto Market Selloff and Regulatory Uncertainty
Coinbase stock is sliding today due to a combination of factors. The crypto market as a whole is experiencing a sharp pullback, with Bitcoin tumbling roughly 2.9% to around $76,834.
The decline in digital asset prices has triggered a broad retreat across crypto-linked equities, including Coinbase shares. In pre-open trading, the stock slid 4.4%, while the entire crypto exchange and blockchain equity sector declined in premarket hours.
The uncertainty surrounding the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act vote is adding to the anxiety. The Senate was scheduled to hold a procedural cloture vote on the legislation today, which aims to establish clearer token classifications and reduce regulatory uncertainty for crypto businesses.
Compass Point upgraded Coinbase to Neutral from Sell yesterday, raising its price target to $177, still below where the stock had been trading. However, the upgrade is cautious, tied to Bitcoin’s potential cyclical bottom rather than an outright bullish call.
