Coinbase Tokenized Stocks Go Live as Collateral on Aave V4
Coinbase has made significant progress in integrating its tokenized stocks into the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. The company's tokenized shares of seven US equities, including Apple (AAPLc), Amazon (AMZNc), Google (GOOGLc), and Tesla (TSLAc), are now live as collateral on Aave V4's Base deployment.
The integration allows users to borrow against their stock positions instead of selling them, unlocking liquidity while maintaining upside exposure. This move connects the global equities market, valued at over $150 trillion, to on-chain lending.
According to Aave's announcement, the launch is available in eligible jurisdictions outside the United States. Chainlink supplies the pricing data as Coinbase's official oracle, ensuring accurate token valuations. The integration of real-world assets into DeFi is a significant step towards mainstream adoption.
