Coinbase Unleashes High-Performance Matching Engine on Deribit
Coinbase has launched a high-performance matching engine on Deribit to process over 100,000 orders per second. This move enables the cryptocurrency derivatives platform to achieve sub-millisecond matching latency, improving execution speed and scalability for institutional traders.
The upgrade is part of Coinbase's effort to strengthen its derivatives infrastructure and prepare itself to provide faster and more reliable execution for institutional traders.
The new engine introduces a built-in 'speed bump' feature that temporarily delays aggressive orders, giving liquidity providers additional time to adjust their quotes during volatility. This mechanism encourages market makers to provide tighter spreads and larger order sizes over time.
