Coinbase Unlocks Tokenized Stocks on Aave V4
Coinbase has expanded its offerings by launching tokenized stocks on the Aave V4 protocol, which is deployed on the Base network. This integration allows token holders to use their shares as collateral to take out loans in USDC.
The available assets are seven: AAPLc, AMZNc, GOOGLc, METAc, MSFTc, NVDAc and TSLAc, each backed by real shares held in custody by Alpaca Securities LLC. This ensures that token holders have direct economic exposure to the underlying share without synthetic references.
The Aave market operates 24 hours a day, but affected reserves are paused during corporate actions until the new multiplier is applied. In the next stages of development, Coinbase plans to incorporate GHO as a borrowable asset and expand its tokenized stock list subject to governance and risk review.
