Coinbase has introduced fixed-rate Bitcoin collateral loans through its integration with Morpho Midnight. This new lending option allows users to borrow USDC against their Bitcoin holdings, providing a transparent interest rate and repayment schedule at loan origination.

The service is built on the Base network and utilizes the Morpho Midnight protocol infrastructure. Coinbase's existing variable-rate lending portfolio has exceeded $1.4 billion in loans secured by approximately $3 billion in collateral.

Morpho introduced Midnight on the Base network in July, establishing a framework for fixed interest rates and predetermined maturity dates in decentralized lending. This latest feature complements Coinbase's current onchain lending infrastructure, which includes variable-rate borrowing through Morpho Blue.
