Coinbase's Armstrong Calls on Senate to Pass Bipartisan Crypto Regulation Bill

Share

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong is urging the Senate to pass the CLARITY Act, which he believes will establish clearer rules for the crypto industry. In a post on X, Armstrong called the legislation a bipartisan effort that addresses concerns around consumer protection, law enforcement, and regulatory oversight.

According to Armstrong, 70% of Americans agree that the US should have clear rules for crypto, and the CLARITY Act aims to provide just that. The bill would allow banks to expand their involvement with stablecoins and crypto services, which Coinbase strongly supports.

However, not everyone is in favor of the CLARITY Act. Sen. Bernie Sanders, Ben McKenzie, and JPMorgan Chase have raised concerns about the proposed legislation, warning that clearer rules could come at the expense of investor protections and regulatory safeguards.
