CoinEx Closes Down Amid Market Weakness and Regulatory Burden
CoinEx, a cryptocurrency exchange that has been in operation for nine years, announced it will cease all activities by December 22, 2026. The platform cited prolonged market weakness, declining volumes and liquidity, and increasing compliance costs as reasons for its closure.
The exchange started reducing services on September 15, with new registrations already closed. From that date onwards, several services were suspended, including lending, staking, or crypto margin trading. Spot trading will stop on September 29, and the CoinEx Smart Chain and OneSwap will also be shut down.
CoinEx claims to have reserves exceeding 100% of its clients' assets, assuring that withdrawals will remain available throughout the closing period. The exchange's native token, CET, will be bought back at 0.005 USDT per unit between September 15 and September 29, with no volume limit.
