CoinEx Shuts Down Amid Market Downturn, Regulatory Pressures
Crypto exchange CoinEx has announced its shutdown after nine years in operation. The decision to cease operations comes due to prolonged market downturns, lower trading volume and liquidity, rising regulatory requirements, higher compliance costs, and operational uncertainties.
The exchange will shut down in phases between September and December 2026. Spot trading will end on September 29, 2026, while withdrawals will close on December 22. CoinEx has begun its shutdown process, with several services already discontinued since September 15, including new user registrations and referral rewards.
The exchange emphasized that fully-backed user assets remain withdrawable, and native CET tokens are being repurchased at 0.005 USDT per CET until September 29. Users who wish to withdraw their non-USDT assets in their original form must do so before 02:00 UTC on September 29.
CoinEx cautioned against scams seeking private keys, passwords, verification codes, or asset transfers for supposed withdrawals or compensation during the shutdown process. The exchange also clarified that CoinEx Wallet and CoinEx Vault are separate businesses and not affected by the exchange's cessation of operations.
