Crypto exchange CoinEx will shut down on December 22, 2026, nine years after its launch in 2017. Founder and CEO Haipo Yang said he rejected a sale offer in favor of a 'clean ending' for the platform's staff, users, and holders of its native token CET.

New account registrations and referral rewards stopped immediately, while futures trading moved into reduce-only mode on September 22. Non-spot services shut down on that date as well, and spot trading will end on September 29.

CoinEx will repurchase its CET token at the original listing price of 0.005 USDT with no cap on volume from September 15 to 29. After that, remaining balances will be automatically converted at the same rate.
