CoinEx to Shut Down Amid Declining Liquidity and Rising Compliance Costs

Share

CoinEx, a cryptocurrency exchange that has been operating for nine years, will shut down on December 22, 2026. The decision comes after the company announced a phased shutdown of services due to declining liquidity and rising compliance costs.

The exchange started a staged shutdown in September, stopping new user registrations and terminating referral commission distributions. It also transitioned all futures markets to reduce-only mode.

On-chain asset deposit operations will cease on September 22, with the exception of the CET token, which can still be accepted until September 29. Spot trading will cease at 02:00 UTC on September 29.

CoinEx founder and CEO Haipo Yang said that business efficiency no longer justified the security and compliance risks involved in operating the exchange. He emphasized the long-term responsibility of operators in the face of increasingly uncontrollable risks.
