CoinEx Winds Down Operations After Nine Years

Instruments

CoinEx, a nine-year-old centralized cryptocurrency exchange, is shutting down. The platform cited shrinking trading volumes and liquidity, as well as rising regulatory and compliance costs across major jurisdictions.

The shutdown will be phased over three months: new user registration stops on September 15, non-spot services end on September 22, spot trading halts on September 29, and withdrawals remain open through December 22. Users holding balances have until the final date to move their funds off the exchange.

CoinEx's reserve ratio exceeds 100%, with all user assets fully backed by reserves. The exchange denied a June report alleging $3.84 billion was moved through it linked to Iran. ViaBTC mining pool will operate independently during the wind-down process.
