CoinEx Winds Down: Shutdown Timeline Revealed as Exchange Closes Doors
CoinEx, a Seychelles-headquartered exchange, has announced its closure on September 15, citing falling trading volumes and rising compliance costs. The shutdown follows a staggered schedule, with new registrations ending on September 15 and futures contracts moving to reduce-only mode. On September 22, margin trading, crypto loans, staking, earn programmes, and all remaining futures services will close.
On September 29, all spot trading pairs will go offline along with the CoinEx Smart Chain (CSC) and the OneSwap decentralised exchange platform. The final withdrawal deadline is December 22, after which the exchange fully ceases operations.
CoinEx will apply a 5% monthly fee on unclaimed USDT balances that run through August 2028. Founder Yang Haipo stated, 'Nine years, millions of users. I did not turn CoinEx into the “great” exchange I once hoped it would become.' The company's reserve ratio exceeds 100%, meaning user assets remain fully backed throughout the wind-down.
