CoinGecko Expands Onchain Wallet Analytics with New API Endpoints
CoinGecko has introduced a set of Onchain Wallet endpoints that enable developers to track comprehensive wallet data across multiple blockchain networks. These endpoints cover balances, trades, token transfers, and profit or loss (PnL) for the same wallet address, providing a holistic view of holdings, transaction activity, and trading performance. The tools are particularly useful for portfolio dashboards, tax applications, and wallet analytics services that require more than just current balances.
The Token Balances by Wallet Address endpoint allows developers to retrieve assets held by a wallet across one or more networks, such as Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum, in a single request. This eliminates the need to query each blockchain RPC separately and manually combine the results. The endpoint also supports filters to exclude low-value holdings and low-liquidity spam tokens, making it easier to focus on meaningful data.
CoinGecko’s Trades by Wallet Address endpoint retrieves swap history for a wallet on a specified blockchain, supporting over 250 networks. Each trade is classified as a buy or sell, with details like USD values provided directly in the response. The Token Transfers by Wallet Address endpoint complements this by adding movements like sends, deposits, and airdrops, which are not captured in trade-only histories. Developers can merge trades and transfers into a time-sorted wallet activity feed, keeping PnL information separate.
The PnL by Wallet Address endpoint provides realized and unrealized profit and loss across requested networks, with performance totals broken down by blockchain and token-level information. This data is kept separate from the chronological activity feed to serve different analytical purposes. The workflow allows developers to track multichain holdings, merge timestamped activities, and keep performance totals distinct, making it a powerful tool for comprehensive wallet analytics.
