CoinMarketCap API Unveils Broader Data Access for Developers
CoinMarketCap's API has evolved beyond its reputation as a simple price page and market ranking platform. The developer stack now includes access to centralized exchange data, DEX activity, derivatives, real-world asset data, market-wide metrics, and CoinMarketCap indices through various methods, including the standard REST API, keyless endpoints, WebSockets, and AI agent tools.
With over 90 active REST endpoints, the platform offers a wide range of data, including 59 market-data endpoints, 25 DEX endpoints, and 4 utility endpoints. This data spans cryptocurrency, exchange, real-world assets, derivatives, CMC AI, global metrics, content, community, CMC Index, and blockchain statistics.
Developers can access this data without an API key through CoinMarketCap's Keyless Public API, which allows for real data requests without authentication or payment. This keyless access includes 35 routes, split between 18 Standard API endpoints and 17 DEX endpoints, covering cryptocurrency prices and listings, market cap, metadata, global metrics, DEX pair quotes, token prices, liquidity, token security, swap data, holder information, and K-line/OHLCV data.
The platform also offers several proprietary indicators, including the Fear & Greed Index, Altcoin Season Index, CMC 100, and CMC 20, with both current and historical routes for those indices. This makes the public API useful for prototypes, research scripts, and lightweight integrations that need more than a ticker feed.
