Coinmint CEO Accused of Stealing 448 BTC from Mining Operations
Coinmint's CEO, Ashton Soniat, is at the center of a lawsuit filed by Mintvest Capital, an equity holder in Coinmint. The amended complaint alleges that Soniat misappropriated 448 BTC from the firm's mining operations.
The suit claims that Soniat extended 'testing' periods for weeks or months to take all proceeds that should have been distributed to investors. During this time, he allegedly redirected all BTC produced by Coinmint to his personal wallet.
Mintvest Capital is seeking compensatory damages of at least $104 million, representing withheld profits, as well as compensatory damages of at least $47.1 million for the stolen BTC.
