A major security scare has hit the crypto community after a suspected exploit drained over $7.9 million from wallets linked to Coinsbuy, a crypto payment platform, on August 9, 2026.

The attack, which occurred almost simultaneously on both Ethereum and TRON networks around 21:00 Beijing time (13:00 UTC), is believed to have been carried out by an attacker with access to multiple systems or private keys tied to the platform.

Specter, a blockchain monitoring firm, first flagged the unusual outflows, which were then quickly laundered through Monero before parts of the haul could be traced or frozen.
