Coldcard Hack Sparks $31.8M Bitcoin Move Amid Estimated $130M Losses
A significant amount of Bitcoin has moved from a dormant address after hackers exploited vulnerabilities in the Coldcard hardware wallet software. According to reports, 500 BTC (approximately $31.8 million) was transferred from the address, which had been inactive for 12 years.
The transaction paid only 191 sats ($0.12) in fees, drawing attention amid a wave of thefts attributed to Coldcard's security issue.
As Galaxy Research estimates losses could reach $130 million, Coinkite warned that all Coldcard models are vulnerable, creating significant crypto security risk and potential market pressure if whales consolidate or sell.
