Coinbase CEO Urges Senate to Pass CLARITY Act Amid Bipartisan Support

Share

Coinbase Global Inc.'s (NASDAQ:COIN) CEO Brian Armstrong is urging lawmakers to support the CLARITY Act, which aims to establish clearer rules for the crypto industry in the US. According to Armstrong, the legislation would help address concerns around consumer protection, law enforcement, and regulatory oversight.

Armstrong praised the bill as a bipartisan effort that aligns with public opinion, stating that '70% of Americans say we should already have clear rules' for crypto. He highlighted provisions that would allow banks to expand their involvement with stablecoins and crypto services, calling it 'a ton of bi-partisan work to finally establish clear rules for crypto in America.'

However, not everyone is supportive of the CLARITY Act. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Ben McKenzie, and JPMorgan Chase have raised concerns about the bill, arguing that clearer crypto rules must not come at the expense of investor protections and regulatory safeguards.
