Coldcard Wallet Hacked: 1,082 BTC Stolen in Large-Scale Security Breach
A recent exploit in the code of the Coldcard Wallet, a hardware-based wallet for holding Bitcoin (BTC), has led to a large-scale theft of cryptocurrency. This security breach started last week and has left many Bitcoin holders in uproar. Hardware wallets are considered by some to be the safest option for storing cryptocurrencies, with the Coldcard Wallet being among the leading products.
According to Galaxy Research, 1,082.65 BTC were stolen from the Coldcard wallets through last Friday, worth approximately $70.2 million at that time. Victims of the hack have taken to social media to share their stories of drained accounts, with some questioning the long-term viability of Bitcoin if such vulnerabilities are found and exploited.
Despite this security breach, Bitcoin has managed to stay positive in today's trading, up 0.7% to $63,878 today.
