Coldcard Wallet Hackers Steal Over $100 Million in Stolen Bitcoin
A software flaw in Coldcard hardware wallets has allowed 'numerous' hackers to steal more than $100 million in Bitcoin, according to a crypto research firm.
Galaxy Research found that 1,596 Bitcoin, valued at about $102 million as of Tuesday, had been stolen from over 7,300 crypto wallets across three confirmed waves of theft and 14 smaller incidents.
The firmware flaw left wallet seeds weak enough for hackers to guess, which Coldcard maker Coinkite confirmed last month was caused by a bug in some firmware versions before releasing a fix.
