Column Unifies Stablecoin and Fiat Payments Across Multiple Blockchains
Column, a bank-as-infrastructure provider co-founded by Plaid's William Hockey, has integrated stablecoin payments directly into its core banking ledger. This allows fintech clients to send, receive, and convert USDC and USDT with immediate fiat conversion and settlement.
The integration supports multiple blockchain networks, including Solana as the default network, Ethereum, and others. According to Column, this system requires no prefunding, third-party intermediaries, or separate liquidity management.
Column's stablecoin infrastructure is already live and processing transactions for a roster of well-known fintech clients, including Brex, Ramp, Mercury, Bilt, Slash, and Kapital. These clients use the system to reach tens of billions of dollars annually in stablecoin transactions.
The integration is part of Column's broader product suite, which includes full-stack card issuing, global banking accounts, and multicurrency accounts. Hockey described the stablecoin integration as the culmination of a multi-year initiative aimed at letting fintechs innovate through a unified bank integration.
