Comdirect Offers Crypto Certificates Without Actual Coins
Comdirect offers clients a way to invest in cryptocurrencies through certificates, not actual coins, as of October 4, 2026. The platform provides 29 certificates from five issuers covering 12 different cryptocurrencies. These certificates, listed on the product page, track the price movements of the underlying cryptocurrencies but come with risks, including the insolvency risk of the issuer.
The cost structure varies significantly depending on the investment method. For one-off purchases, a minimum fee of €9.90 applies, making small investments particularly expensive. For example, a €100 investment incurs a 9.9% fee. However, for savings plans, the 1.5% order fee is waived until the end of 2027, making it a more cost-effective option for regular investors.
The certificates available include a mix of individual cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, as well as baskets and indices. Notably absent are securities for Dogecoin, Monero, and other major tokens. Comdirect's approach caters to investors who prefer the convenience of a securities account over managing their own wallets and private keys.
The promotional offer for savings plans is time-limited and excludes certain account types. While it provides a fee waiver until the end of 2027, the bank reserves the right to change or end the offer at any time. This makes it a temporary but attractive option for those looking to invest in crypto through a regulated platform.
