The proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 8361, which aims to cap staking rewards, has met with overwhelming opposition from the community. According to ETHVA data, a staggering 99.7% of the 83K staked ETH amongst validators are signaling 'No' on the proposal.

The proposal, currently in its draft phase, would reduce staking rewards to zero if the staking ratio crosses 50%. However, critics led by Aave's CEO Stani Kulechov argue that this would kill ETH credit markets and push DeFi to other chains.

Kulechov slammed the Ethereum Foundation (EF), stating that their 'ivory tower academic approach' is disconnected from the builders in the trenches who choose to build on Ethereum every day. He also noted that the proposal showed EF's 'huge lack of focus on the things that will actually have an impact.'

The community sentiment against the proposal has led to a slight drop in Ethereum market sentiment, with the price remaining below $2K.
