Consensys Software Inc. is rebranding as MetaMask by the end of 2026, focusing on consumer finance and leaving behind its institutional blockchain infrastructure business.

The existing company will become a new entity called Consensys, which will house Linea and Ethereum protocol operations.

Mike Kriak will lead the newly formed Consensys as CEO, while David Cunningham will serve as President. Joe Lubin, co-founder of Consensys, will be Executive Chairman of both companies.

MetaMask has seen significant growth since its launch, with over 100 million downloads across 190 countries and facilitated trillions of dollars in cumulative transaction volume. The wallet is expanding beyond storing and trading crypto, offering features like stablecoin yield and payments through its debit card.
