Consensys Software Inc., the company behind MetaMask, is undergoing significant restructuring. The separation will split its consumer business from its institutional blockchain infrastructure operations.

The move aims to create two independent companies, with Joe Lubin serving as chairman and CEO of MetaMask and executive chairman of the new Consensys.

MetaMask's focus will remain on providing a user-friendly interface for interacting with Ethereum. The company will continue to develop and improve its wallet and browser extension.

The new Consensys, led by Mike Kriak as CEO and David Cunningham as President, will concentrate on developing Ethereum infrastructure and helping financial institutions implement blockchain technology.
