Crypto firm Consensys Software Inc., founded by Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin, is splitting into two independent entities. The current entity, Consensys Software Inc., will rebrand as MetaMask and focus on consumer-facing products, including the top crypto wallet. Lubin will serve as Chairman and CEO of MetaMask.

The new entity, retaining the Consensys name, will house the Protocols Group and institutional blockchain infrastructure business, including Linea and Ethereum infrastructure. Mike Kriak will be CEO, David Cunningham President, and Joe Lubin Executive Chairman.

This restructuring comes as the firm plans for an initial public offering (IPO) and the potential launch of the MASK token. The IPO was previously delayed due to bear market conditions.
