Consensys Splits Into Two Entities Ahead of IPO
Consensys Software Inc., founded by Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin, is undergoing a significant restructuring. The company will split into two independent entities: MetaMask and Consensys.
The rebranding of Consensys to MetaMask will focus on consumer-facing products, including the top crypto wallet, while the newly formed Consensys entity will concentrate on institutional blockchain infrastructure business, including Linea and Ethereum infrastructure. Joe Lubin will serve as Chairman and CEO of MetaMask, while Mike Kriak will be CEO of the new Consensys entity.
This move comes amid plans for an initial public offering (IPO) and the potential launch of the MASK token. The company had delayed its IPO due to bear market conditions, but there has been no update on the MASK token's status.
