Core Lightning Warns Node Operators to Upgrade Amid Attack Reports

Core Lightning has issued an urgent security update for Bitcoin node operators running version 26.06.7 or earlier, warning that attackers are targeting unpatched nodes.

The team has not disclosed which flaws the attackers are using or whether any funds have been lost, but recommends upgrading to the latest release as soon as possible.

Version 26.06.8, released on September 22, fixed several security bugs that could crash a node, use up memory, or cause lost funds during channel closures.

This is not an isolated incident - other Lightning software, including BTCPay Server and Zeus Wallet, have faced security incidents this year.
